Approachable AI: building confidence through understanding
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly pervasive presence in our daily lives.
AI sparks a range of emotions – enthusiasm and excitement at new potentials for storytelling, productivity, and engagement, alongside fear and apprehension in the face of growing uncertainty, increasingly complex ethical dilemmas, disruptive labour market impacts, and concerns around system reliability. Much of this anxiety stems from a lack of awareness and deep understanding of what these systems really are, how they work, and how they can be used in both work and personal contexts.
This interactive workshop is designed to help individuals and organisations unlock the potential of AI, enhancing your operational efficiency and capacity for innovation. We’ll explore how general-purpose AI tools like ChatGPT can serve as allies – augmenting creativity and collaboration, amplifying productivity, and offering fresh perspectives on problem-solving. By demystifying the technology and building confidence and intuitive understanding using plain language and simple analogy, the session is designed to make AI not just accessible, but approachable for everyone, regardless of your starting point.

Building on the success of the University of Plymouth flagship business innovation project in Cornwall, Acceleration Through Innovation (ATI), STRIDE focuses on those sectors detailed within the Good Growth Investment Plan – clean energy resources, geo-resources, data and space, visitor economy and agri-food. The project will also support businesses outside of these sectors where there are clear opportunities for research and innovation to drive growth and productivity.
